Final workup for Philmont crew. This outing will be up to a 20 mile hike. Trails vary depending on weather conditions and participants skill levels. This outing is a multipart outing. All gear except day pack will be heading up in a truck. We will depart Fresno and head to Sacramento via Amtrak. We will depart Amtrak and walk to train museum. After museum we will head to the steam train and ride down and back part of the river. This is where the instructor will give merit badge class. We will then break and let scouts have a few hours in Old Sacramento. They we will depart to camp area. Sunday we will head home via Amtrak.
The California State Railroad Museum is a museum in the state park system of California, USA, interpreting the role of the "iron horse" in connecting California to the rest of the nation. It is located in Old Sacramento at 111 I Street.
